Senators Arlen Specter (R-PA) and Tom Harkin (D-IA) will offer an amendment to the Senate Budget Resolution that would add $7 billion to the overall budget for health and education programs, which includes the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
The Budget Resolution establishes overall federal spending levels for FY 2007. It is critically important that the Senate establish the maximum levels of spending for health programs in their Budget Resolution this year, as budget writers in the House of Representatives are likely to seriously underfund health programs.
SfN asks you to contact both of your Senators, urging them to vote YES on the Specter-Harkin Amendment.
